Role: Tax Advisor
Location: 51/54 Windmill Street, Gravesend, DA12 1BD
Hours: Full time; 9am – 5:30pm Monday-Friday
Salary: Dependent upon experience
Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Tax Advisor, for our busy Private Client department, ideally based in Gravesend, but we will consider other office locations as well. This is a busy and varied role covering all aspects of private client taxation work. Experience and knowledge is required in the following fields:
- Self-assessment tax returns including employee share options, foreign income, self-employment, land and property and disposal of assets
- Claiming reliefs for investment schemes such as EIS, SEIS and VCT’s
- Preparing profit and loss accounts for the self-employed and landlords
- Undertaking capital gains tax computations to assist in the completion of the tax returns
- Completion of non-resident capital gains tax reports
- Dealing with HMRC enquiries
- Dealing with reconciling the tax position up to the date of death
- Annual trust accounts and tax returns
- Estate tax returns for the administration period
- Tax implications and compliance for trust set up and termination
- Complex taxation of discretionary settlements
- Inheritance tax advice and compliance for relevant property trusts
- Capital gains tax advice and compliance
- Income tax advice and compliance in relation to trusts and estates
- International tax compliance such as FATCA
STEP would be preferable but not essential; the Firm assists in career development/studying and candidates undertaking STEP will also be considered.
Candidates:
Successful applicants will have consistent and good taxation knowledge, focusing particularly on private clients issues touching upon wills, trusts, estates and their taxation issues, and must be able to manage their own caseload of files with minimal supervision. Both are demanding roles therefore individuals must be able to prioritise work, use initiative and meet deadlines, coupled with an excellent client manner, smart appearance and good technical competence.
